Tumbling Class Progressions
Choose Your Level
Progression 1 Tumbling
Emphasizes body shaping and baseline strength. Introduces athletes to forward and backward hip overhead inversion. Creates the baseline strength and technique to safely move on to weight-bearing inverted skills. Promotes general body awareness and coordination for more advanced skills.

Front/Back Roll | Hand Stand | Cartwheel | Bridges
Progression 2 Tumbling
Continues to emphasize body shaping and baseline strength. Introduces athletes to forward and backward, weight-bearing hip overhead inversion.
Skills Required to Advance:
Round Off Rebound | Back Walkover | Front Walkover
Progression 3 Tumbling
Continues to emphasize body shaping and baseline strength. Introduces athletes to forward and backward, weight-bearing hip overhead inversion with flight time.
Skills Required to Advance:
Round Off Back Handspring | Standing Back Handspring | Back Handspring Series
Emphasizes advanced body shaping and baseline strength. Introduces athletes to forward and backward, flipping, hip overhead inversions.
Skills Required to Advance:
Round Off | Back Handspring | Back Tuck | Round Off Series | Front Tuck
Progression 4 Tumbling
Progression 5 Tumbling
Emphasizes advanced body shaping and baseline strength. Trains explosive power, speed, and control of all weight-bearing and flipping skills
Skills Required to Advance:
Round Off | Back Handspring | Layout | Standing Tuck | Front Tuck Through Standing BHS Tuck
Progression 6 Tumbling
Emphasizes Advanced Tumbling Skills. Trains explosive power, speed, and control of all weight-bearing and flipping skills while twisting. Major emphasis on strength to reduce injury.
